Grønærter og Gulrøder(Creamed Peas and Carrots)

Daftar Isi: (toc)

I never liked and really, honestly, still don't care for cooked peas or cooked carrots, but if you put the two of them together in this dish, for some reason, I'll eat them every day.
Grønærter (Creamed Peas and Carrots
Of course it could have something to do with the fact that peas and carrots do complement each other very well in several dishes.
I love my Italiensk Salat, which is peas and carrots in a little mayonnaise, topping a piece of ham on a Smørrebrød.
This sauce was also one that my mom made that I got on board with and ate with relish, and it does go so well with ham, as well as Karbonadar or a nice roast chicken breast or ?

This sauce can be served with Ham, Karbonader, Grilled Chicken or Pork Roast, although my mom usually made it as an accompaniment to Ham, so that's how I like it served. And it's a sneaky way to get kids to eat their peas and carrots. It worked on me.

  • 2 cups frozen peas and carrots, cooked
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Flour
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Cook the peas and carrots til done. Drain and set aside for a minute while you make the sauce.
  2. Melt the butter over low heat, add the flour and stir together, cooking it for a couple of minutes. This takes the raw flour taste away.
  3. Whisk in a cup of milk, and turn the heat up to medium. Continue to cook, whisking constantly, until it comes to a boil and cooks for an additional 3 or so minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste then add the drained cooked peas and carrots. Let it come to a boil again, and let cook for another couple of minutes. Serve with cooked ham or Karbonader.
